CM313 – Unit 5 – Blogging Tips Microblogs

A tip for choosing colors
Having a personalized theme is one thing, but color selection defines not just your mood but your overall personality. Make sure the colors selected compliment two important factors; you as a person and if used for professional use, make sure it's not distracting the viewer from your blog as a whole. If this is your first time setting up a blog; one recommendation would be to view the blogs of people that you may be close with who work in a professional environment. This can help you to understand the pros and cons of color selection especially if you're in the beginner stage. Once you figured out color tones that compliment both your personal and work related pages, apply them and review to make sure they appear the way you expected them to.
A tip for adding your personal touch to a blog
The early stages of a blog are exciting; you’re creating something from the ground up and it's meant to be a reflection of you as a person. One important thing to remember is to keep your personal/social life apart from your professional background. It's save you a lot of grief from having to worry about who's looking at your page and why. According to Barnett (2010) "Managing your digital footprint, the online trail of data you leave behind, requires constant diligence, but not without benefit: in the end, it strengthens your image" (p. 23). So for personal use; add some images that give the audience an idea of who you are. For instance, movie or album posters and even quotes from artists that resonate in your own little world. For the professional page I would definitely include your educational background and your current place of work with contact info.
