CM313 – Unit 8 – Podcast Script

Good day to all! May I have your attention please? Thank You! Now that I have your attention, are you ready to grab the attention of others? Do you have the ability to sing your heart out? Do you have the acting chops to win over a crowd by showing your ability to stay in character? If you fit either one of these criteria’s then why haven’t you shared your gift with the world? What you need is an outlet, a virtual stage of some sort and that platform is YouTube. With over a billion visitors a month, YouTube is at the forefront of instant gratification and this tool will provide you the opportunity to showcase your talent to the masses. Don’t think you can do it? Well take a moment out of your day and visit the site so that you can see how many videos are uploaded on a daily basis.
There are tons of individuals who post vlogs on just about anything. My goal is to help you realize the endless possibilities behind recording, editing and uploading your work while at the same time making a name for yourself on social media. Now it only starts with one video; so make sure you select the right song or act you believe showcases the best of you. The editing process of posting a video takes the most work but don’t get discouraged because the end result is worth the time! It’s important to remember that this will take dedication from you to upload at least once week to maintain a sense of relevance.

Now after you’ve accomplished this feat; it’s now time to market yourself and this is where twitter can come into play. Taking this approach will not also help boost your views but the demand for more of you will increase expeditiously. Best part about using twitter; you can link this social site to your YouTube page for a more interactive experience for your subscribers. So get online and be prepared to share your gift with millions; your time is now!

CM313 – Unit 8 – Microblogs About Podcasts

In a professional setting, and from an appropriate perspective, podcasting can be used as a tutorial based tool. It can be used to guide an audience through step by step instructions; as an example, how to land that promotion or how to prepare a presentation for upper management. If used effectively, podcasts can be vital tools in the workplace that everyone can utilize on a daily basis and for credibility purposes; it can be applied for training initiatives.
(Link to both microblog posts)
“This how to site "Beyond the basics" is a genuine step by step personal approach to pod casting with blogger. It's worth a read, enjoy!”
“Ziepod in my opinion is by far the best aggregation set up for searching and even advertising your own pod casts to an array of listeners.”

CM313 – Unit 7 – Podcasting

I believe that podcasts should be executed in the same way a blog post is planned out. It takes some early brainstorming and proper use of descriptive wording to attract and maintain the attention of your audience. “Content-wise, podcasting is a lot like speechwriting, organization is key too. Like speeches, podcasts require a beginning, middle, and conclusion” (Villano, 2008). My goal for the podcast is to discuss what up and comers on YouTube can do to make themselves more known amongst those on social media. My audience would be similar to those same individuals’, who look to market themselves; which would be ideal to avoid relevance issues. The plan is to provide useful tips on how and why this platform is necessary in today’s social media society. With this unit’s planned podcasting; my script will entail simple yet detailed pointers for making one noticeable on YouTube while at the same time, provide a way of making an income from posting vlogs.

CM313 – Unit 5 – Blogging Tips Microblogs

A tip for choosing colors
Having a personalized theme is one thing, but color selection defines not just your mood but your overall personality. Make sure the colors selected compliment two important factors; you as a person and if used for professional use, make sure it's not distracting the viewer from your blog as a whole. If this is your first time setting up a blog; one recommendation would be to view the blogs of people that you may be close with who work in a professional environment. This can help you to understand the pros and cons of color selection especially if you're in the beginner stage. Once you figured out color tones that compliment both your personal and work related pages, apply them and review to make sure they appear the way you expected them to.
A tip for adding your personal touch to a blog
The early stages of a blog are exciting; you’re creating something from the ground up and it's meant to be a reflection of you as a person. One important thing to remember is to keep your personal/social life apart from your professional background. It's save you a lot of grief from having to worry about who's looking at your page and why. According to Barnett (2010) "Managing your digital footprint, the online trail of data you leave behind, requires constant diligence, but not without benefit: in the end, it strengthens your image" (p. 23). So for personal use; add some images that give the audience an idea of who you are. For instance, movie or album posters and even quotes from artists that resonate in your own little world. For the professional page I would definitely include your educational background and your current place of work with contact info.

CM313 – Unit 3 – Microblogs

As a benefit, micro blogs such as Facebook and Twitter are ideal for business entrepreneurs; especially for those looking to market them outside their state or country. "According to the latest numbers from comScore, for instance, Twitter.com attracted 79.4 million unique visitors worldwide in March, 2010, a 316 percent increase from a year ago" (Schonfeld, 2010). A challenge however is maintaining a separate identity from their business and professional networks since anyone can look up an individual by simply searching for them on Google. Personally I have a Facebook page but per a YouTube channel that I help and star in some vlogs, I currently have a twitter account for my character's persona. For the twitter account, I have over 5,000 followers and I only go on when looking to announce the upload of a video on one of my friend's YouTube pages. In my opinion, the two are quite time consuming and addictive if someone is on there for a long period of time but I enjoy the fact that I can communicate with others by simply sending a message electronically.

New Year....New Possibilities?

I'm honored to call myself an optimist, which is something rare now a days since so many of us follow someone else's tune but for me, I like to walk a different path. I believe that we can change; our views of others, our belief that money makes us happy and that the "American Dream" requires us to go into debt. Unfortunately, people I've grown up with find it difficult to take care of themselves and rely on others to do things for them. Mind you I'm 31 and there the same age as me; now this doesn't make me perfect but you would think by now this person would know what they want out of life. Sadly this isn't the case, and there stuck in the past but there are those who look to break free of the norm and follow their dreams. Do you have the ability to sing or act your ass off? Then soon you will learn to take your first step.............
